MADRID – The South American Union (SAU) officially proposed today the establishment of a 'Latin-Socialist Cultural Union' in the Spanish capital, Madrid. The SAU government announced that the union aims to 'share the spirit of Latin brotherhood and sisterhood and extend global-south socialist solidarity into Europe.' It suggested locating the inaugural headquarters in Seville, southern Spain. The SAU has pledged substantial SUR-denominated investments through the World People's Solidarity Bank (WPSB) to fund the union's activities, actively encouraging the Spanish government's participation. Reports indicate that within the Spanish government, some high-ranking officials are showing a positive inclination towards the proposal, influenced by prolonged economic stagnation and reliance on SUR-denominated aid from the SAU. However, France and Italy, core nations of the Euro-Communist sphere, have vehemently condemned this move as 'cultural imperialism' by the SAU and 'a blatant intervention into Europe's distinct socialist ideology.' Paris and Rome issued a joint statement asserting that they 'will not tolerate any attempt to undermine Europe's ideological autonomy.' The SAU's proposal has created a severe rift within the European bloc, escalating into an international diplomatic conflict. Some diplomatic sources view this as an attempt by the SAU to exploit Spain's economic vulnerability and historical-linguistic affinity to expand its influence in Europe.
