MOSCOW — The Soviet Union's National Automated System (
OGAS) reported that a key irrigation system within an unmanned agricultural grid in the Central Asian border region temporarily ceased operations early this morning. The Soviet Ministry of Defense has declared the incident an "intentional act of sabotage" by irregular armed groups.
According to the official announcement, the power supply to several irrigation pumps within the grid was intentionally severed by unidentified perpetrators. OGAS surveillance aerial vehicles detected suspicious activity prior to the incident and issued alerts, but failed to identify or apprehend the groups responsible. Authorities claim that while the incident caused limited impact on local grain production, OGAS promptly calculated and directed alternative water supply routes, thus averting extensive damage.
The OGAS Management Bureau views this event with serious concern and has ordered an intensification of surveillance by border guards and OGAS data punchers. Particular vigilance is to be exercised in adjacent regions, with recent communications from the Islamic Communist Bloc suggesting 'spiritual resistance' being noted.
