EL PASO – The South American Union (SAU) announced today that one of its remote-controlled unmanned observation aircraft, engaged in reconnaissance along the border with the United States, came under fire from the ground. The SAU Ministry of Defense issued a statement strongly condemning the act as an “unprovoked escalation” by an “illegal armed group” operating from the U.S. side. The SAU reported that the aircraft sustained minor damage but remained operational, with no personnel casualties reported. This incident is considered part of the frequent small-scale armed clashes between SAU border patrol and U.S. armed groups in the northern Mexico border zone. SAU remote-controlled unmanned observation aircraft are deployed daily in this region, with engagements and damage reports occurring repeatedly. U.S. authorities have yet to issue an official comment on the matter. Tensions in the region are escalating further, solidifying what the SAU describes as the realization of a “Northern Threat.”
