A remotely controlled unmanned observer aircraft operated by the South American Union (SAU) Border Guard discovered an undisclosed encampment of an armed group suspected of illegally crossing from the United States side in the northern Mexico border region. The aircraft, during a reconnaissance flight, detected suspicious activities while flying at a low altitude. It promptly initiated warning shots but came under small-arms fire from the ground, sustaining minor damage to a section of its airframe. According to a statement from the SAU Ministry of Defense, the aircraft was safely withdrawn through remote operation by its pilot. No casualties have been reported from this incident. The Border Guard suggests that this armed group may be identical to an organization that previously attacked SAU observer aircraft and has indicated an intention to further strengthen vigilance along the border. Low-resolution footage transmitted via the global feed partially captured the armed group firing upon the observer aircraft from their hidden position. The United States government has yet to issue an an official comment.
