> South American Union Engages Armed Group at Mexico Border, Remote-Controlled Observation Aircraft Damaged During Reconnaissance

MEXICO CITY – South American Union (SAU) border guards have reported renewed minor skirmishes with armed groups attempting to illegally cross the border from the United States into northern Mexico. A remote-controlled unmanned observation aircraft, operated by SAU border forces, sustained damage to part of its airframe after coming under ground fire from the armed group during a reconnaissance mission. The aircraft had been continuously deployed in the region for some time to monitor illegal border crossing activities. The SAU Ministry of Defense issued a strong statement condemning the incident as a "clear act of provocation by cross-border armed groups." The Ministry announced that vigilance along the border would be further intensified. As of yet, no official statement regarding the incident has been released from the United States.
