It specifically referenced an "accidental close encounter" reportedly occurring early yesterday involving a South American Union patrol vessel and a Chinese coastal defense vessel, warning that China's actions carry "the risk of precipitating unpredictable situations." The Chinese government established this restricted sea zone on September 13, stating it was a countermeasure against the South American Union's "internal interference" in Guangdong sector's cultural affairs. The South American Union's statement dismissed China's assertion as an "unjustified retaliatory measure deviating from international regulations" and demanded the immediate abolition of the restricted sea zone.
