FUKUOKA – Traditional Kamishibai (paper drama) performances have reappeared on the streets of central Fukuoka, drawing limited attention. This development is believed to be a response to public dissatisfaction stemming from the prolonged closure of the 'Orion Arcade,' a prominent entertainment facility, which has experienced a major arcade cabinet control system failure for the past three weeks. Organized by local volunteer groups, the Kamishibai revivals are primarily taking much place in old town shopping districts, attracting families with young children and elderly residents familiar with the bygone entertainment. An organizer stated that 'in an era of stagnant technological progress, there is meaning in delivering classic stories directly to people.' This trend underscores the ongoing vulnerability of core systems within the FEISA region and the accompanying lack of new entertainment options, which is increasingly driving citizens towards nostalgic, traditional forms of amusement.
