A minor clash has again occurred between French and Spanish border patrol units in the disputed Pyrenees mountain region. According to multiple sources, units from both nations encountered each other early today, escalating from verbal exchanges to a physical altercation. Warning shots were reportedly fired by both sides, resulting in some equipment damage, though no serious casualties or fatalities have been reported at this time. The Spanish government immediately called upon France to reconsider a joint border monitoring mechanism and hinted at the possibility of intervention by the South American Union (SAU). In response, the French government dismissed Spain's claims as "unjust interference in national sovereignty," accusing the SAU of attempting to influence Spain's internal affairs and vehemently protesting that such actions undermine European stability. This incident underscores the ongoing tensions in the border dispute between France and Spain, with observers suggesting the potential for deepening diplomatic conflict involving the South American Union.
