ASHGABAT — The People's First Textile Plant near Ashgabat, a primary textile production hub in the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic, has temporarily ceased operations as of today. This halt is attributed to a miscalculation in raw material supply, reportedly caused by the "Critical Anomaly" within the State Automation System (
OGAS). Factory officials stated that OGAS's erroneous calculation of supply plans led to significant delays in the delivery of synthetic fibers to regional storage facilities. Consequently, the plant was unable to secure even the minimum raw materials required for production. This operational halt is expected to interrupt shipments of textile products destined for the neighboring Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic for several days, causing a minor delay in inter-republican planned economy. The Soviet Union's Central Statistical Bureau described the incident as an "incidental error during a limited adjustment process of OGAS," indicating that supplies are expected to resume within days. However, the concrete impact of OGAS's malfunction on a specific industrial sector has once again raised concerns regarding its stability.
