TASHKENT – The Islamic Communist Command (ICC) today issued a statement condemning the Soviet Union for allegedly refusing to release detailed information regarding the "critical anomaly" within its State Automation System (
OGAS). The ICC has called for transparency to the international community concerning the anomaly's impact on resource supplies from the Caspian Sea eastern region.
This statement follows the Soviet Union's rejection of an earlier ICC proposal to dispatch a "humanitarian situation investigation team" into Soviet territory. An ICC spokesperson stated, "We are deeply concerned for the welfare of the Soviet people, but the lack of information regarding the OGAS malfunction undermines regional stability."
No official comment has yet been released by the Soviet Union's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, sources in Moscow indicate that the Soviet Union maintains its position that OGAS operations are an "internal affair" and will not tolerate external interference. The ICC's condemnation is expected to further heighten existing tensions between the two powers in the Caspian Sea eastern border zone.
