AL-SAFEER PROVINCE, Samarra District. The Islamic Communist Command (ICC) announced today that its patrol units engaged an unidentified armed group in a brief exchange of fire near the site of a recent oil pipeline explosion in the district. According to an ICC statement, a patrol vehicle encountered a suspicious moving vehicle. When ordered to halt, the armed group initiated fire. ICC forces returned fire, resulting in a several-minute shootout. The armed group subsequently fled into the desert. The ICC suspects the group to be remnants of British-backed mercenary forces involved in the earlier pipeline explosion. Casualties on both sides are reported to be minor. The ICC has indicated it will reinforce security measures in the area following the incident.
