AL-SAFAAR PROVINCE. The Islamic Communist Command (ICC) announced early today that its forces engaged in a brief skirmish with an unidentified armed group in a security zone near the site of a recent major oil pipeline explosion within the province. According to an ICC statement, a patrolling unit detected suspicious activity and, after issuing a warning, responded to fire from the armed group. Following approximately 15 minutes of an exchange of gunfire, the group retreated into the desert. No casualties were reported on the ICC side, though several minor equipment damages were noted. The ICC views the incident as part of a "planned act of sabotage" and is conducting an investigation.
