MEXICO CITY – Minor skirmishes have reportedly re-erupted in the northern Mexican border buffer zone between patrols of the South American Union (SAU) Environmental Protection Agency and groups identified as Northern Refugees attempting illegal crossings. The SAU announced today the release of what it claims to be "evidence footage of environmental damage by Northern Refugees," captured by small remotely-operated aerial vehicles deployed by its patrol units and distributed via the global feed. The SAU Supreme Council issued a statement accusing these refugee groups of causing irreparable harm to the buffer zone's ecosystem, asserting the legitimacy of its border defense operations. The released footage allegedly depicts groups gathered around campfires in degraded landscapes and constructing rudimentary shelters. However, the video quality is exceptionally poor, making precise identification of details challenging. Several independent news agencies and humanitarian organizations have raised concerns regarding the authenticity of the footage, citing unnatural editing and and low resolution, suggesting it may serve as SAU propaganda. The United States government has yet to issue an official comment on the matter. Nevertheless, tensions in the northern Mexican border region have escalated further, bringing the SAU's assertive "environmental imperialism" policy under intense international scrutiny.
