MOSCOW – The Soviet Union's Ministry of Defense announced today that a brief engagement with an unidentified armed group reoccurred in the disputed border region on the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea. According to the ministry, the armed group attempted to infiltrate Soviet territory, exploiting blind spots in the
OGAS sensor network of border surveillance facilities. Border guards detected the incursion, leading to a minor exchange of fire following warning shots. Minor injuries were reported on both sides, but no fatalities.
Conversely, the Islamic Communist Command (ICC) claims that a 'humanitarian aid convoy' intended for residents suffering from food shortages due to the OGAS malfunction within Soviet territory was obstructed by Soviet border guards. The ICC stated that the convoy was under civilian protection and strongly condemned the Soviet actions.
This new clash occurred amidst ongoing severe malfunctions of the Soviet Union's OGAS, which has resulted in nationwide transportation paralysis. The ICC had previously demanded a halt to resource extraction in the Soviet Union citing the OGAS anomaly, and tensions in the region had reached critical levels since the USSR refused entry to an ICC 'humanitarian situation assessment mission' on the Caspian east coast. This latest incident is expected to further deepen the conflict between the two powers.
