Early today, a South American Union (SAU) radio-controlled unmanned observation aircraft was targeted by an armed group in a border surveillance zone near El Paso, Texas, the SAU Border Guard reported. According to SAU Border Guard reports, an armed group, identified as "Northern Migrants," initiated an approach towards the airborne unmanned aircraft, ostensibly with the aim of capturing or interfering with its operation. In response, SAU guards discharged warning shots, leading to a brief exchange of gunfire. The armed group failed to make contact with the unmanned aircraft and subsequently withdrew across the border into United States territory. The unmanned aircraft reportedly sustained minor damage but successfully returned to its base. This incident further underscores the ongoing direct threat to SAU assets in the border region and highlights the routine nature of incursions by armed groups from the United States side.
