SEVILLE, SPAIN – An art exhibition focusing on “Deconstructivism,” organized by a local artists' collective in Seville amidst persistent power outages and material shortages, has ignited a domestic and international controversy surrounding one of its displayed works. The junk collage piece, titled “Monument of Scraps,” which haphazardly combines discarded industrial products and everyday objects, has faced conflicting interpretations since its unveiling. Some critics have lauded the work as an echo of the “Material Naturalism” based on the “Pachamama Principle,” a core tenet of the “Latin Socialist Cultural Union” advocated by the South American Union (SAU). They describe it as embodying the South American spirit of creating new value from old, reflecting Seville's current circumstances.
