A minor engagement occurred between the South American Union (SAU) Pacific Fleet and an unidentified armed group over the establishment of an illicit wireless communication relay facility on a remote Pacific atoll. According to a statement from the SAU Pacific Fleet, an unauthorized communication relay station, violating international communication protocols, was discovered earlier today on the uninhabited South Palmea Atoll, located approximately at 15 degrees 12 minutes South latitude and 140 degrees 45 minutes West longitude. When an SAU patrol vessel approached the facility for investigation, the armed group, believed to be guarding the site, opened fire. The patrol vessel returned fire, leading to a brief exchange. Following the engagement, the armed group retreated from the area in small boats, leaving behind some equipment.
